I can't find a great picture, but http://www.undercovertourist.com/united-states/arizona/tucson/attractions/img/l/breakers-water-park.jpg shows something similar (though much cheaper) in Tucson, Arizona.
Of course, this place also has water slides, but the idea of a fake beach is very similar
